The Marathon
The supreme discipline
Breathtaking 42.195 kilometers and 1,500 vertical meters
The Raiffeisen Montafon Arlberg Marathon will start again in 2026 in St. Anton am Arlberg and leads over the Winterjöchle pass to Silbertal in Montafon. Far away from roads, you'll run along forest trails and hiking paths through the impressive nature in the Natura 2000 Verwall area – an alpine natural gem between Vorarlberg and Tyrol.
After the start in the village, the route heads towards Lake Verwall before the mountain trail climbs over the Silbertaler Winterjöchle. Passing Lake Langsee, you'll cross what is arguably the most beautiful border between Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
The trail then continues past Alpe Fresch and Alpe Gafluna, gradually descending the valley. From the Almhütte Fellimännle, you'll tackle one final climb towards Wasserstubenalpe and Wildried before descending via Oberbuchen and Unterbuchen to the Teufelsbach waterfall. A final loop through the centre of Silbertal brings you to the finish line.
