At the mountain station of the Bergbahnen Gargellen by the Bergrestaurant Schafberg Hüsli, the hike starts down along the forest road to Gargellen. After about 35 minutes, roughly halfway, you reach the rustic Obwaldhütte. A stop here is worthwhile. On the terrace, you can admire a carved wooden figure representing the wandering bear Bruno. In 2006, the bear Bruno was in the headlines daily for a while. Interesting reports on this topic can be viewed. On the way to the toilets, there is even a footprint to marvel at. After a refreshment, continue hiking down the forest road into the valley. After the hut, you descend with zig-zag switchbacks and then pass the district Vergalda, which lies slightly above the center of Gargellen. Upon reaching "Gitzistee," follow the signs to the valley station. You will reach it after about 20 minutes.
