Tourbeschreibung

The Gypsum Path leads right into the mining history of St. Anton im Montafon, where gypsum was mined on a large scale below the Davennastock from the late 19th century until 1977. From the village, it goes leisurely up the old access road to the gypsum works and back down into the valley through a shady forest path. At the Tränenbächle, tired hiking feet can be nicely cooled down.

Description

Anyone looking from afar at St. Anton im Montafon can still see the gypsum quarry on the mountainside below the Davennastock. For centuries, the mineral was mined here on a large scale. Thus, the development of the village is inseparably connected with mining. Although this ended in 1977 and the area was renaturalized, many traces can still be discovered. The path leads right into the history of mining and brings it to life once again.
