The Montafon has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for Tourism Destinations since December 2024.
In addition to achieving certification, we have set ourselves ambitious goals. These are set out in our Sustainability Action Plan and cover the next four years until recertification in 2028.
We are currently in the first monitoring cycle of the Austrian Ecolabel for Destinations, which we see as a central component of our sustainability strategy. This path symbolizes our commitment to future-oriented and responsible tourism in the Montafon. The certification process comprises regular monitoring cycles, each lasting four years.
Impressions of our audit in December 2024
You can find out more about the two-day audit and the path to the Austrian Umweltzeichen in the PIZ Montafon blog.
"The certification is not just a success for us, but a promise for the entire region and to our guests. It shows that we don't see sustainability as a trend, but as a long-term responsibility - for our nature, our residents, our guests and future generations."
Manuel Bitschau Managing Director of Montafon Tourismus GmbH
Our action plan
This plan contains detailed measures that support us on our path and was developed as part of a workshop involving all relevant tourism stakeholders in the Montafon. Our action plan will serve as our guideline for the Austrian Ecolabel until recertification in 4 years' time.
Our path to achieving these goals is clear: with our comprehensive sustainability program, which is built around the Austrian Ecolabel, and the concrete measures from our action plan. Our sustainability managers ensure that these measures are implemented and further developed.
Our annual reports as an instrument in the monitoring process
Our annual reports are a key instrument in the monitoring process, as they show, for example, how tourism contributes to the economic and sustainable development of the region and therefore form an important basis for our strategic decisions. These and other key figures are an important monitoring tool, as they provide objective, measurable data that makes it possible to evaluate the progress and impact of strategies and measures.
