Directions

The beautiful and scenic winter hike starts in the town center (Kirchplatz) of Schruns and leads through the pedestrian zone to the Litzpromenade. Cross the Litz bridge and follow the right embankment path down. At the height of Landhaus Kreuz (yellow residential building) turn right and follow the path "Auf der Litz" across to Außerlitzstraße. Then cross Außerlitzstraße and follow the path past the Hotel Vitalquelle Gauenstein. On the backside of the Vitalquelle Gauenstein hotels, head uphill to Kloster Gauenstein. You will reach Kloster Gauenstein after about 20 minutes. The first ascent is somewhat steep. It is advisable to have poles with you here. A visit inside the monastery is recommended. If you are lucky, the entrance to the garden is even open. From there you have a beautiful view down to Schruns-Tschagguns and the surrounding mountains. To continue hiking follow the ascent path back a short distance. Below the monastery the continuing path branches off to the left. You hike on the Broxweg, initially through the forest until you reach a few houses. At the end of the access road the hiking trail becomes narrower. Slightly above Schruns it continues to Montjolastraße (end of the winter hiking trail). From Montjolastraße it goes slightly downhill and you shortly reach the starting point.
