Christmas magic in Gargellen: twinkling lights- the scent of biscuits and a winter market
Christmas Magic in Gargellen
Twinkling lights, the scent of cookies, and the winter market
When Gargellen dons its winter finery, one of the most magical times of the year begins here. Snow crunching underfoot, crisp mountain air, and a sense of anticipation in the air—there’s simply something magical about the Christmas season in the mountains. This special atmosphere is also palpable at the Gargellen Mountain Railways: with decorated gondolas, fragrant cookies for our guests, and a winter market that transforms the valley station into a festive gathering place after the holidays.
Decorated Christmas gondolas: A festive ride over the valley
Of course, our Christmas gondolas are a must-have during the holiday season. Lovingly decorated, they radiate warmth and festivity the moment you step inside. The five decorated gondolas accompany our guests on their way up—whether they’re heading out for their first run on the slopes or a leisurely trip to the Schafberg Hüsli mountain restaurant. This turns every ride in the Christmas gondola into a peaceful, festive moment that makes the Advent season in Gargellen feel especially special.
The Gargellner Bergbahnen team is baking cookies: Merry Christmas!
We’ve been busy baking delicious Christmas cookies for our guests. As a small token of our festive season, we’ll be handing out these treats on December 25 and 26—right on site via our parking attendants. We hope this will give you a little taste of the Christmas spirit in Gargellen to take with you (while supplies last).
Winter Market Delights: Raclette Bread, Waffles, Mulled Wine & Punch
What would a winter market be without the aroma of warm delicacies? From December 28 to 30, a small but delightful culinary lineup awaits you at the valley station—one that perfectly complements the winter atmosphere in Gargellen.
For something hearty, try freshly prepared raclette bread: crispy, warm, and just right after a day in the snow. Equally popular are Krautspätzle —hearty, steaming, and perfect for warming up. For those with a sweet tooth, there are fragrant waffles that will tempt you to take a sweet break just as you walk by. And to make sure no one has to freeze, mulled wine and punch are on hand—to warm up, toast, and enjoy.
In addition to the culinary delights , 18 regional vendors present a diverse selection of handmade goods, charming accessories, and unique designer pieces.
Whether as a cozy way to wind down after a day of skiing or as a meeting place for family and friends: the winter market is a place to linger, chat, and savor the joys of winter.
