Montafon Cultural Landscape Fund

Preserving tradition together.

The Montafon Cultural Landscape Fund makes an important contribution to preserving the traditional cultural landscape of our region. Originally created from the Montafon district's ‘shingle fund’, the fund supports projects aimed at preserving the traditional roof landscapes of the Montafon, the Montafon Alps and the Maisäße. These measures are time-consuming and costly. They require specialist knowledge, which is unfortunately increasingly being lost.

Together, we can ensure that the Montafon cultural landscape remains accessible for future generations.

The fund provides €80,000 annually and has supported over 760 grant applications since its establishment in 1997. The main focus has been on roofing houses, hay barns and stables with wooden shingles. Through its effective work, the fund has established itself as an important source of support for the preservation of the Montafon cultural landscape. Funding decisions are made once a year by a commission consisting of representatives from the Montafon region, the state of Vorarlberg and the Montafon Heritage Society.

The Montafon Cultural Landscape Fund promotes the preservation of the Montafon cultural landscape through contributions from the Montafon district, Montafon Tourism and the state of Vorarlberg. The KLF commission, consisting of representatives from the Montafon district, the state of Vorarlberg and the Montafon Heritage Society, meets once a year to discuss the applications submitted.
